The National Children’s Book Festival was presented on the 27th International Book Fair in Sofia

 

Twenty seventh International Book Fair was held on 3 - 7 December in Sofia the greatest event in the field of book-publishing for the year, organized by the Ministry of culture, „Bulgarian book Association and Sofia Municipality. Books of more than 140 Bulgarian publishing-houses, published in 2008 were presented during the fair. Publishing-houses from Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Iran presented their books. A guest of honour of the fair was the Russian federation which had arranged a stand of 800 sq. meters, on which were exposed more than 30 Russian publishing-houses. A National round-table conference on topic: “Society-reading-book” was held in Hall N 7 in the National Palace of Culture as a part of the concomitant program of the fair on 3 and 4 December. The event was opened by Mrs. Nadejda Zaharieva – vice-minister of the Ministry of culture. Professor Valeri Stefanov, associate professor Alexander Panov, associate professor Alexander Kyosev, professor Boriana Hristova, Heinrih Kreinbach /Germany/, Andrea Steinbrecher /Foundation Reading”, Germany/, Elena Pavlova /Ministry of culture of Belarus /, Alexander Voropaev /Ministry of press of Russia / etc. read their reports on the round-table conferenceThe National Children’s Book Festival, which has organized for 10 years in a row already by “Sava Dobroplodni” regional library in Sliven, was presented in front of the guests and the participants in the event as a sample of good practices for the development of reading in Bulgaria. The presentation of the festival was made by Mrs. Rositsa Petrova – directress of the library. The film of Bulgarian National Television A Window to the   World was broadcasted too. The presentation of the festival attracted the attention and interest of the audience and the foreign guests stated their willingness to work in cooperation.
