FIRST PRESSCONFERENCE FOR IMPENDING THE VIiIth NATIONAL CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL – SLIVEN, MAY 8-10, 2006 Mrs. Rositsa Petrova-Vasileva presented the program of the VIIIth National Children’s Book Festival to journalists of local and central media. The topic of the National literary competition and a competition for drawings: “An adventure in the world of fairy secrets and magic” and the topic of the round table discussion: “Modern novel for children and its readers – trends, risks, challenges”, dedicated to 100 years of Petar Dimitrov-Rudar’s birth, were announced. A new moment in the Festival this year is the including of the Bulgarian Writers’ Union as a partner in organizing and carrying out the round table discussions. The Bulgarian Writers’ Union established a prize for a new children’s book /a manuscript/, which will be awarded yearly, by an anonymous competition, in May in Sliven during the days of the Festival. The prize consists of a diploma, a plastic sculpture and publishing the manuscript-winner of the prize. The writers Georgi Mishev, Todor Lozanov, Rumen Shomov, Georgi Konstantinov, Maya Dalgacheva, Rositsa Chernokojeva, Julia Spiridonova, Irina Batkova will take part in the events of the festival’s program. Dafina Georgieva-Ronya’s book “I am a dream” / published by “Egmont Bulgaria” Publishing house/ will be presented posthumously. There will be performances, concerts, literary competitions, carnivals, book bazaars etc. during the days of the Festival. A new advertising strategy of the Festival was worked up.
