Investment in spirituality is an investment in the future --Sliven made this choice

 

An extension of “Sava Dobroplodni” regional library’s building was opened on a solemn ceremony within the program to celebrate the feast of Sliven – St. Dimitri’s Day on October 25, 2009. The ceremony was attended by the deputies to the National Assembly Desislava Taneva, Kalina Krumova and Juliana Koleva, the District Governor Marin Kavrakov, the vice-mayor of the municipality Radost Kostova, the secretary of the municipality Petya Rumenova, the architect Annie Nevrokopska - designer of the building, Todor Dechev - manager of "Building" company – the company that build the extension, Dora Eskidarova – Head of Culture department in the municipality, Ivan Petrov- a chairman of the Committee for Education and Culture in the Municipal Council, municipal councilors, representatives of cultural and educational institutions, representatives of business, the media, many citizens and members of delegations from the cities Voronezh / Russia / and Pecs / Hungary / as in the Hungarian delegation there was the director of the town library- Joseph Keresturi. The event was also attended by Ilia Popov – administrative director of Project Global Libraries, Bulgaria, funded by the Foundation Bill and Melinda Gates, Stoyu Vartolomeev - manager of “Hermes” publishing house and one of the biggest donors to the library, directors and representatives of regional libraries, community center leaders from the city and the region, representatives of partner organizations in the country, many children and youngsters. The interest of all guests, and citizenship of Sliven is understandable. “Sava Dobroplodni” regional library is the most modern cultural and information center in Sliven region today. It is a temple of science, culture and centuries-old experience of spirituality. It combines in its everyday work traditional activities for library and innovative forms of presentation of the Bulgarian and world culture. Through free access to the Internet and new information technology services it successfully adapts to the needs of contemporary society. It works actively to achieve the European standards, establishes successful partnerships in the country and abroad, gives birth to new initiatives. By the achieved in the service units of the newly built wing of the library standards for functionality, accessibility, environment, storage conditions of the funds and services to readers, with a modern computer and presentation rooms, with quite different in atmosphere and ways of presenting of literature and services children's department and foreign language center, the vision of the library is completed and it becomes the benchmark for a modern library and information institutions, in a modern temple of spirituality. The first visitors to the newly opened building were convinced of that. And the celebration, as each celebration organized by the library, was filled with high spirits and smiles. It began with the masterly performances of the band of small musicians from Karandila-Junior band with their leader Angel Tichaliev. Julia Popova, five years old girl, greeted the guests with Leda Mileva's poem "My book “, then the children from the club "Friends of the Library” gave to the official guests their favorite books, in which a kind of a message was placed – the poem "Book –my fairy" of Maria Koleva-twelve years old girl. For their contribution to the realization of this significant for Sliven and for the country project, with plastics and diplomas were awarded the mayor of Sliven Yordan Lechkov and Desislava Taneva – a deputy / a former chairwoman of the Municipal Council, Sliven /. Special prize for showing generosity to update the book-stocks of the children's section of the library received the publisher Stoyu Vartolomeev. Inauguration ceremony for the new building served Father Ivan. In his speech he also wished the library to be the institution which by the wealth it holds, to teach, to educate, to foster the spiritual growth of young Sliven citizens. To the guests of the celebration was read a congratulatory address by the Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov in which the opening of the extension of "Sava Dobroplodni” regional library was identified as a significant social and cultural event not only for Sliven and the region but for the country too. „This fact is important not only for your city, but also for the cultural life of the country ... Now, when we work for the realization of a new cultural policy, in accordance with national traditions and facing the European values, this event is the most significant contribution ... It is remarkable that this happens in your town that is famous for its deep cultural traditions and a stable professional presence in the library - information field. Because your library has always been among the leading cultural institutions and the initiatives organized and conducted by it are evidence of love and dedication to the profession, expansion of cultural exchanges and the establishment of permanent contacts, not only in Bulgaria, but in European culture ... "said the greeting. Honor to open the library fell on the deputy Desislava Taneva and Radost Kostova – a deputy mayor. About the interest in the new city library and the services offered in its most eloquent is the number of visitors that day. Only for two hours the library was visited by over 500 citizens as the most active were children and adolescents. This is a proof that the investment of the municipality is timely and necessary, that investments for children and young people, for spirituality is an investment in the future of our city.
