Open doors days in "Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library - Sliven /April 18-19/
Open doors days, dedicated to the international book day and the copyright /April 23/ were held in "Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library - Sliven on April 18-19.
The librarians of the library have prepared many surprises for their readers from different ages. There were many performances "In the magic world of Grimm brothers' fairy-tales" during the both days for the little ones in which took part 165 first-grade pupils from II and IIIrd primary schools and children from “Mak” kindergarten. There were excursions in the library organized for the elder pupils, which aimed presenting the informational library services and the Eurodesk center's services to them. The completely automated servicing of users in the foreign languages centre was also demonstrated to the users. The web-site of the library was presented. More than 130 students from foreign languages high school, science and mathematics high school, V elementary school and students from the Technical University - Sofia, Department – Sliven attended the events organized by the library during the two days.
The official presentation of the library’s web-site attracted the interest of the guests /http://reglibsliven.iradeum.com/. Mrs. Mustafova – deputy regional governor of Sliven, Miss Ofelia Kaneva – deputy mayor of Sliven Municipality, associated Professor Stanimir Karapetkov – a head of Department – Sliven at the Technical University - Sofia, Mrs. Svetla Draganova– a chief of regional inspection of Ministry of education and science, directors of cultural institution, library specialists, community centers workers attended the event. The web-site was presented by Mrs. Rositsa Petrova-Vasileva – a directress of the library. The priorities of the web-site were outlined: easy access and use of various and interesting information about the institution, the town, the region, cultural and public life, new rubrics. The library’s electronic Internet book catalogue was presented in details. A book donation “Golden collection of XX century” from the “Bulgaria” newspapers group was donated to representatives of community centers from the region at the end of the presentation. 160 book sets will be donated to libraries from Sliven and Yambol regions by the help of the library.
Informative services and daily library’s cards were free on 18 and 19 of April and the year cards have 50% discount. More than 150 readers were registered. Most of all were the year cards –92. More than 1250 visits were registered in the library. More than 3000 library materials were loaned. Readers used all the free services.
There were many surprises for the readers in the two days. Newly registered readers were given more than 130 books. Regular readers were gifted books too. Books were given to all the children who attended the performances “In the magic world of Grimm brothers’ fairy-tales”. There were many prizes for elder pupils who took part in the quiz “Do you know our library?”. Every one who attended the official presentation of library’s web-site was gifted a book from the “Golden collection of XX century” series by a raffle.
Library’s administration plans to organize such initiatives in the eve of other similar national and international celebrations, concerning books, science and knowledge, because of the great interest to all the events, included in the programme of the Open doors days /April 18-19/. |
