Open Doors Day

at „Sava Dobroplodni“ regional library

 

Open doors day – traditional already for the beginning of each school year was held in „Sava Dobroplodni“ regional library on September 20, 2010. More than 360 students from different Sliven schools visited the library. Interesting literary collections and services were presented to them. By interesting presentations eighth graders from „Zahari Stoyanov“ foreign language high school and "Dobri Chintulov" High school of Natural Sciences and Mathematics got acquainted with the information services of the library, the way of using the automated facilities and the new library's service for library references and ordering books electronically, via e-mail. One of the most visited places in the library was again the children's department. Among the visitors were children who were reward as the most active readers of the library during the summer holidays. For the youngest readers elibrarians in the department had prepared quizzes and fun games with prizes. New issues for language training and books in English, German and French included in the curriculum were presented in the Foreign Language Center. In the Open Doors Day was launched the beginning also of a closer cooperation between the regional library and the leadership of District Council of Bulgarian Red Cross -Sliven. To students of „Damian Damyanov“ Humanitarian High School specialists from Bulgarian Red Cross - Sliven and young volunteers made a presentation on "Volunteering and charity - Bulgarian Red Cross in Sliven“. Many students and adults visited the library and took advantage of free information services in the reading rooms. Annual cards with 50% discount were issued to 69 new readers. Continued the library's initiave "Bring me back to my home“ for books that readers have forgotten to return to the library. More than 40 books were returned only on this day.
