NEW DONATIONS OF BOOKS AND PERIODICALS

FOR SAVA DOBROPLODNI REGIONAL LIBRARY

 

More than 450 books and 30 periodicals received the regional library as donations for the last month.

On the occasion of the opening of the extension of the library the deputy of the parliamentary group of Ataka party Kalina Krumova donated for the youngest readers 60 children's books - encyclopedias, dictionaries, also fairy tales, novels and short stories of popular and loved Bulgarian and foreign authors. For those older readers tempted by politics Krumova donated the books “Bulgarophobia", "Boomerang of Evil", "My fight for Bulgaria" of the leader of Ataka party Volen Siderov.

On the same occasion, the library received as donations also several unique publications: “Treasures of art" from the series "Monuments of the UNESCO World Heritage” - luxurious, richly illustrated book presenting the hundred most important world cultural and architectural monuments donated by the Administrative Director of program “Global Libraries- Bulgaria” Iliya Popovq, the encyclopaedia "1000 reasons to be proud that we are Bulgarians" - a personal donation from the chairman of the committee of education, culture and religion in Sliven Municipality – Mr. Ivan Petrov. The municipal councilor Galin Kanchev enriched the library’ book-stocks with the bibliophilic edition “Hadji Dimitar / 18.07.1840 - 10.07.1868 / -name - exploits and legend”, containing unique documents, photographs and other written records of the heroic time of the detachment of Hadji Dimitar and Stefan Karadzha.

More than 300 children's books have been donated to the new children's department by the publishing houses "Hermes", "Fiut”, “Egmont Bulgaria” etc.

Publishing House "Labor and Law” donated 30 books to the library in the field of law, economy, social security etc.

The valuable donation of more than 60 publications in the fields of religion, history, literature, social sciences, musicology, memoirs, fiction and biographies was donated to the library by the National donating fund “13 Centuries Bulgaria". Among the unique issues included in the donation, most interesting are the collections of the documentary series "The records speak" - "Revival Process", "Official and secret Bulgarian-Turkish diplomacy," “Tsar Boris III in the British diplomatic correspondence” etc. The encyclopedic edition of the BAS “April’s vault" dedicated to the founders of the Bulgarian public education system during the Renaissance is also very valuable. The book-stocks of the Regional Library was enriched with two new volumes in the series "University Library" - "Beyond the myth” by Professor Boyan Biolchev and the long time unreleased and censored monograph "The Love" by Professor Kiril Vasilev. Very interesting to historians and scientists in the field of regional studies will be the monographic edition “Establishment and the first international activities of Bulgarian Red Cross” by Petko Mangachev. Two more unique issues deserve special attention - the album "For honor and glory of Bulgaria.Bulgarian military flags of the Bulgarian Army, of the volunteer armies and rebel organizations" and the study "Spartacus - the son of ancient Thrace”.

The donation includes also 30 periodicals - full flow for 2008 and 2009 of the journals "Literary Balkans", "Contemporary", "Torch", "Orientalia" - magazine of the Orient, "Proceedings of the Bulgarian historical Society” etc.

Donations of children's books are already available to most readers in children’s department, and the monographic studies, albums and periodicals are available for use in the library’s reading rooms.
