Premiere of the book "Yes, love” by the poetess Petya Alexandrova in “Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library - Sliven

 

The premiere of the latest collection of poems by the famous Bulgarian poetess Petya Alexandrova was held during the Friday Literary Readings in “Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library on 25 February. Petya Alexandrova was born on June 23, 1948 in Yambol, but she originates from Sliven. She graduate “Dobri Chintulov” High School in Sliven and Bulgarian Philology at Veliko Tarnovo University "St. St. Cyril and Methodius”. She worked for a long time as a journalist in “Trud” newspaper, “Otechestven Front” newspaper, "Rodna Rech" magazine etc. She lives and works in Sofia since 1975. She wrote five books of poetry and prose for adults and 14 collections of stories and poems for children. Her poems have been translated into English, Russian, Polish, Slovak, Turkish and Romanian. Petya Alexandrova has won many prestigious literary awards, including "Petko Rachov Slaveykov” award, rewarded by the Ministry of Education and Science for her entire contribution to the writing of children's literature (2007) and the National Award "Konstantin Konstantinov” for her contribution to children's book publishing in category “Author” (2008). Her collection of poetry "Yes, love!" was published in the end of 2010. It was printed in "Jajda" Publishing House in Sliven. The edition includes 45 poems and four essays on love and by critics’ opinion it is the best in contemporary Bulgarian love poetry. The sensual, sensuous and elegant poetess Petya Alexandrova is complemented by brilliant way of the illustrations of the artist Ivan Dimov. The collection of poems was presented by the writer Ljubomir Kotev. Among the guests at the premiere were Sliven authors, journalists and fans of the poetess Petya Alexandrova, and the writer from Yambol Hristo Karastoyanov, as well.
