A WORK MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF TARGET LIBRARIES FROM SLIVEN REGION ON GLOBAL LIBRARIES - BULGARIA PROGRAM WAS HELD IN “SAVA DOBROPLODNI" REGIONAL LIBRARY

A work meeting was held with representatives of the 24 targeted libraries of Sliven region included in "Global Libraries – Bulgaria” program - Stages 2009 and 2010 in “Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library on 26.01.2011. The meeting was attended by Dora Eskidarova – a head of “Culture and religion” department in the municipality of Sliven, Nadezhda Todorova – a head of “Culture” department in Tvarditsa Municipality and Veska Valcheva – a head of “Culture, media policy and religion” department in the municipality of Nova Zagora.

The directress of “Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library Rosica Petrova – a regional program coordinator for the Sliven region presented a report on the implementation of the planned program activities for 2010 in the target libraries in the region. She also presented to the librarians the timing and logistics of the planned training program in the pilot phase in 2011. The pilot phase will start in March with training in Information and Communication Technology. In equipped training facilities in the program in “Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library in the period March - June will be held three courses - each with duration of 11 days and 30 librarians from the target libraries will be trained. A course will be held on Strand 4 - Communication and work with users and communities in July.

Representatives of target libraries and coordinators discussed also basic rules for the use of computers and peripheral equipment in the target libraries. Representatives of target libraries were acquainted with the system for monitoring and impact assessment in the target libraries. It has also been scheduled to check preparedness of libraries in Stage 2010, and the timetable for delivery, installation and commissioning of computer and peripheral equipment in them. By the end of May, 9 more libraries in the region, thanks to its participation in the program, will be modernized and will begin to offer advanced information services and access to vast information resources.
