A training center and workstations for users on program "Global Libraries-Bulgaria" - I stage were opened officially in Sava Dobroplodni Regional Library- Sliven

A training center and workstations for users in the departments of the library under the program "Global Libraries Bulgaria "- I stage were officially opened in „Sava Dobroplodni“ Regional Library – Sliven on November 29, 2010. For the center and the workstations the library received 24 desktops, 1 laptop, a server, a multimedia projector with screen, color laser printer, multifunction ustriystvo, 24 WEB cameras, headphones and more. The opening program included the presentation of Trendafil Meretev – a Program Manager, of Global Libraries - Bulgaria, who presented the project in brief - its scope, objectives, stages of implementation. The presentation was attended by Ogniana Glavusanova – a Program Director of the United Nations Development Program, the deputy of GERB party of Sliven Desislava Taneva, the governor of Sliven region Marin Kavrakov, vice-governor Hristo Karabekirov, vice-mayors of Sliven municipality - Radost Kostova, of municipality of Nova Zagora- Galia Zaharieva, of Kotel Municipality - Vesselina Ruseva, representatives of municipal administrations in the cities of Sliven, Kotel, Nova Zagora and Tvarditsa, councilors, heads of schools, media. After the presentation Trendafil Meretev answered questions of journalists and guests. In a brief speech the Directress of „Sava Dobroplodni“ Regional Library Rosica Petrova welcomed the guests. In it she stressed that the inclusion of the library in the "Global Libraries Bulgaria" made another important step in the direction of its modernization and established itself as a major scientific and information center in the region - an intermediary for users to vast information resources. She recalled that the automation of major library and information processes in Sava Dobroplodni Regional Library started in 1993. In 1996 the Library first from the similar institutions in the country provided Internet access for users on a joint project with the Technical University in the city of Tornheym /Norway/. In 1999 the Regional Library has implemented a major project under the PHARE program for the training of library specialists from libraries in the country and users to work with the new information technology for electronic documentation. After 2000 the library is a major training center for the training in computer literacy of librarians from Sliven and Yambol regions. Computer training courses for users are held on projects funded by various donor organizations. From 2003 to 2008 on a project in cooperation with the Institute for International Cooperation at the Association of German Universities /Hanover/ in the library were conducted trainings to obtain the European Computer Driving X-pert "and" X pert master ". It was emphasized that in „Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library users have access to modern information services and Internet provision is in the best way in recent years. In conclusion, she stated that the inclusion of „Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library in the "Global Libraries Bulgaria" program will support the realization of one of its main long-term goals - expanding the access to information databases and information services of the library, counseling and training of its users to use the information on the Internet and eventually support their integration into the global information society. The training center was opened by cutting the traditional tricolor band of the deputy Desislava Taneva, the program manager Trendafil Meretev and the vice-mayor of Sliven Municipality Radost Kostova. After the official opening the new information services that the library offers to its users were presented.
