Sava Dobroplodni Regional Library presented 

a book of Teodora Dimova

          “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library presented Teodora Dimova’s book “Adreana” during the Friday literary readings, which were held on the eve of St. Dimitar’s day /the day of Sliven /. The event was attended by many readers and with the special participation of the writer Atanas Slavov.

         Teodora Dimova was born in 1960 in Sofia and she is a daughter of the famous Bulgarian classical writer Dimitar Dimov. Shea graduated English philology in Sofia University “Kliment Ohridski”.  

     "Fury" was her first play and it won in 1987 the prize of a competition of the Bulgarian National Radio. It was published in the collection “New Bulgarian Drama” in 1999. Then followed her plays "Room № 48", "Erikepayos", "Kalvados, my friend", "Igrila", "The Plateau", "Neda and the dogs", “The Bitch” /which was performed more than 50 times on a stage/,  Snake’s Milk ”,  Lovers” /performed on the National Theatre’s stage/ and  The Invisible Paths of Forgiveness”. Her play “Stopper” won in 2000 First prize on the review of New Bulgarian Drama in Shumen and the Special prize by the name of Margarit Minkov on the Third national competition of dramaturgy. She was also nominated for dramaturgy by the Association of Bulgarian actors in 2000. Her play “The Ireloh Castle” won a subsidy in 2001 for a production in a wild race with play-writers from almost all Balkan countries. She took part in international work-shops of dramaturgy in Varna , Budapest , Ohrid and London . More of Teodora Dimova’s plays tell about what happens in a family in the time of transition.

           The first novel of Teodora Dimova “Emine” was published in 2001. The book is a part of the new fiction series for debuts "Gambits" of “Janet-45” publishing house. Svetlozar Igov writes about the novel "Emine": "If the capacity of a book for asking us questions is evidence about its importance, the debut novel of Teodora Dimova is a successful one; at least for those who still read Bulgarian literature taking part this way in its writing."

         The second published novel of Teodora Dimova - "The Mothers", won the grand prize for 2004 of the literary competition "Development" in category new Bulgarian novel. It was published in 2005. It won the Grand prize for Eastern-European literature in June 2006, awarded by an international jury in Wien and was also distinguished by the Association of Bulgarian writers.

         The newest book of the much talked about Teodora Dimova is the novelAdriana. The book is sequel of the unfinished untitled Dimitar Dimov’s novel. But, according to the author itself, this is emphatically not a sequel of her father’s novel, because he would never write it this way. “...Immediately after I finished the novel The Mothers”, confesses Dimova, Adriana took possession of me so much that I started imagining her visually...It was a hard work to do”.

         During the premier of the novel in Sliven the writer Atanas Slavov talked about the place which the novel “Adriana” took in the modern Bulgarian literature and Teodora Dimova – the author of the novel-won his recognition.

         The novel impresses with its philosophical depth in searching for the answer of the question about the meaning of life, about the illusion, late insights, meeting of death. “Adrianais a novel of memory not only about different state of life, but most of allmemory about the specific primary unity, a nostalgic and regressive novel.

         People who attended the meeting with Teodora Dimovastudents, teachers, lawyers, writers, library specialists, connoisseurs of prose of different ages and professions, asked various questions. Some of them dared to asked Dimova if she feels the pressure of her father’s name as a writer; to others she described how exactly her writing process goes. In harmony with the meeting she read to the audience an essay that she wrotea confession on the topic. Teodora Dimova paid attention to the mission of the writers and all the artiststo speak about the problems, to alarm in their own way politics and institutions responsible for solving them.

         To her fans Dimova confessed that the novel Adrianaisher declaration of loveto her father Dimitar Dimov.
