XV NATIONAL CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL

Third day

The third and final day of the XV National Children's Book Festival began with a press conference of the winners of the National Award “Konstantin Konstantinov” for lifelong contribution to children's book publishing for 2013. From 9.00 a.m. in the press room of the Festival in the theater’s building representatives of national and regional media had the opportunity to meet in personal the winners of the awards:  Georgi Mishev - in category “Lifelong Achievements”, Bozhana Apostolova - in category “Author” and Boris Nikolov Stoilov - in category “Illustrator”, to learn more about their first reactions after receiving their awards.

The National Award “Konstantin Konstantinov” for contribution to children's book publishing was established in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture, Municipality of Sliven, “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library and Rotary Club - Sliven. The award is given annually in the days of the National Children's Book Festival for contribution to book publishing for children in the previous year. It includes a small sculpture, an honorary diploma and money and it is handed into four categories: a Grand Prize for lifetime achievement and awards for: a publishing house, an author and an illustrator. The first winner of the award in category “Lifetime Achievement” was the poet Valeri Petrov, and in category “Publishing house” – “Fiut” publishing house.

From 10.00 a.m. on the open stage on "Tsar Osvoboditel" boulevard a theatrical show of "Marietta and Marioneta" theatre house "Grandpa is pulling a turnip and other stories" started. In 11.00 a.m. a fun game with prizes “Tell me your favorite poem!" again gathered many candidates for glory. Smaller and elder children had the opportunity to meet with the publishers of their favorite children's books. Vocal group "Caravella" entertained the audience.

The official ceremony for the rewarding of the participants in the National literary competition entitled "An amazing journey through time" and the National Workshop for children's drawing entitled "A Magical Adventure in the world of dreams" was held in Drama Theatre "Stefan Kirov" – in the Grand Hall. More than 1050 children and adolescents aged 7 to 16 years from Bulgaria domestic and Bulgarian communities abroad with especially written for the contest tale, story or poem took part in the literary contest. Thirty seven young artists were awarded in the three age groups. The winners were listed on the internet – on the site of the festival http://childbookfest.iradeum.com.

The National Children's plain air of painting involved more than 250 children from Bulgaria at the age of 7 to 14 years, divided into two age groups. Nineteen participants were awarded.

Children formation "Yan Bibian" with music director Tsveta Andreeva and vocal group "Slaveytche" participated        in the final concert of the XVth edition of the National Children's Book Festival.
