The second day of the XIIIth National Children's Book Festival, 10th of May, was also full of interesting events.

 

The roundtable with international participation: "Development of children's illustration and its impact on children's reading” continued in “Sava Dobroplodni” regional library from 9.00 a.m.

The premiere of “My First Book about Hristo Botev" by Lubomir Rusanov from the series of "PAN" publishing house “My first book about ...” dedicated to the life and the work of famous Bulgarians was held from 9.30 a.m. in the chamber hall of "Stefan Kirov” drama theatre.

From 10.00, A concert and a fun game with many rewards "Tell me your favorite poem!" gathered together many children on the stage in the open air on the main street next to the book bazaar. The best young readers who have the courage to perform their favorite poem on stage were given souvenirs from the festival, books and magazines. Next to the book bazaar, authors give autographs of their most ardent readers. The club for young pop and rock artists "Rhythm", led by Elena Peeva sang their song on stage too.    

For the fifth year in a row the National Children's plain air of painting was held. This year's theme was: "On the other side of the magic mirror". It gathered together for painting more than 250 talented young artists aged from 7 to 14 years from all over the country. The plain air this year was hosted by the National Art School "Dimitar Dobrovich", "Sava Dobroplodni" regional library, IIIrd secondary school "Dr. Ivan Seliminski” and Children's united complex - Sliven. The works of children were assessed by a professional jury chaired by the artist Christo Totev and on May 11, Wednesday, from 10.00 a.m. at an official ceremony in “Stefan Kirov” drama theatre the artists-winners received their awards.

From 10.30 in the chamber hall of the theater took place the performance of the theater troupe from Haskovo "How to treat lion’s fear without drubbing”. At the end of the play the writer Maya Dulgucheva, author of the text of the play and of the book with the same title, met her young readers.

The premiere of the second teen novel by Julia Spiridonova entitled "Countess Bathory" attracted the great interest of the audience. It was held in the chamber hall of "Stefan Kirov" drama theatre at 11.30 a.m. with the special participation of the students from XI "D" grade from the high school with foreign languages teaching"Zahari Stoyanov" - Sliven.

Egmont Bulgaria”publishing house celebrated its 20th anniversary since its creation. For its many readers he publisher prepared "A fun game with prizes, which took place in the chamber hall of "Stefan Kirov " drama theatre in 12.30 a.m. An exhibition "Colors on white sheet - 20 years EGMONT BULGARIAwas exposed in the lobby of the theater .

The second event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of "Hermes" publishing house were the funny "Alchemy and fantasy”classes, which were held in the chamber hall of the theater from 1.30 p.m. The series "Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" were presented.

The carnival, this year, as each year, was that most expected by children and adults event. The colorful procession of princesses, fairies, musketeers, witches,iIndians and many characters from favorite children's fairy tales, accompanied by the cheerleaders and Karandila Junior brass band marched along the main street and made adults smile for a moment returning to the enchanting world of their childhood. The jury selected the winners of the prize for most original costume. Many awards were handed out too.

A magnificent spectacle with the special participation of the actors Maria Sapundjieva and Dimitar Rachkov, the dancers of Dance Studio Rila pearls” from Belitsa, Ballet "Barbie" at the garrison military club - Sliven and Sport Dance Club Sliven and performers from the vocal ensemble at the choir "Milka Stoeva – Burgas was presented from 5.00 p.m.on the big stage in the "Stefan Kirov" drama theatre. At the end of the show was also held the official ceremony of rewarding the National Award "Konstantin Konstantinov for lifelong contribution to the children's book publishing for 2011. The winners of the National award were: in category Lifelong Achievements” - Kina Kadreva, in category "Author" - Vesela Flamburari and in category "Illustrator" - Yasen Gyuzelev.
