Winners in the literature competition «Europe in a Tale» in Bulgaria

Bulgarian winners in the transnational competition “Europe in a Tale” of the international LITTLE project, in which “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library is the only Bulgarian partner, became known in the middle of February 2006. Bulgarian participants in the competition are 364, as the youngest one is 7 years old and the oldest – 76 years old. Italian participants are 200 and German participants are about 100. Bulgarian, Italy and Germany are the three partners in the international LITTLE project. Chairman of the Bulgarian jury for the competition was Mr. Georgi Konstantinov – head of the Bulgarian PEN-centre and director of ‘Plamak” magazine. The Bulgarian winners in the competition are:

- first group / 7-14 years old/ - I prize – Jaclin Kotseva from Pleven – for the tale «The Golden Firefly», II prize - Ivan Kostadinov from Bourgas –for the tale «The Little Beetle Bramcho and the Fish Sijaina» and III prize – Ivan Tiholov from Kjustendil – for the tale «The good-hearted Blacksmith». There also are encouragement prizes for Anna-Maria Maleva from Shoumen and Ivelina Ivanova from Bourgas.

- second group /15-18 years old/ – I prize – Iliana Pavlova from Yambol – for the tale «A True Tale», II prize - Antonia Markova – «A Tale for the Freedom» and III prize – Jheliazko Tsachev – for the tale «The Brothers - painters». Martina Vicheva from Sliven won an encouragement prize for the tale «The ugly Duckling» - a sequel.

- third group / over 18 years old/ – I prize – Vencislav Mirchev from Botevgrad – «A Tale about the Black Mamba», II prize - Maya Dalgacheva – «How to heal a lion’s fear», III prize – Julia Spiridonova – «The Little Goblin Strashko». There also are two encouragement prizes – for Maria Gjuzeleva from Elhovo for her tale «The Fairy Flower» and for Valeri Radanov from Silistra for his tale «The Three Wise men».

The works-winners in the competition will be published in a medley. The tales of Jaclin Kotseva, Iliana Pavlova and Vencislav Mirchev will take part in the second round of the competition, in which the international jury will select the absolute winner in the competition from 9 tales / three from Bulgaria, Italy and Germany /. The absolute winner will take part in the final meeting on the project on May 2, 2006 in Brussels.
