An artistic-documentary exhibition, dedicated to the 130 years of the outbreak of the April revolt was opened 

 

 

 

An artistic-documentary exhibition “The April revolt 1876 - the heroism and sacrifice of a nation” of exhibits from the funds of the Art gallery – Sliven, “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library and State archives – Sliven was opened in “Sirak Skitnik” hall on May 2, in the eve of 130 anniversary of the outbreak of the April revolt in II Sliven revolutionary region.

The exhibition follows the organizing, the outbreak and the repression of the revolt, as there is a special section for the revolt in the II Sliven revolutionary region. Many valuable archive materials, printed issues, drawings, engravings, portraits, graphics etc. are exposed. The protocol book of the Sliven bishopric containing the letters of Sliven metropolitan bishop Serafim, concerning the doings in the region during the revolt, atrocities during the repression of the revolt, destruction of Boyadjik village and the salvation of Sliven from seizure and destruction provoked a special interest. A good selection of texts suits well to the exhibition and contribute to its emotional impact. A special brochure, made up by the librarians presented the most important moments of the April revolt and it was given to all the visitors of the exhibition.

The exhibition was opened by Miss Ofelia Kaneva – deputy mayor of Sliven Municipality and a member of the national council for celebration of the 130 anniversary from the outbreak of the April revolt.
