A VALUABLE DONATION FOR "SAVA DOBROPLODNI" REGIONAL LIBRARY BY THE INSTITUTE FOR THE STUDY OF THE ARTS AT BAS
"Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library - Sliven received a valuable donation of publications of the Institute of Art Studies at BAS on the occasion of its 60th anniversary. The donation contains over 30 books: monographs, studies, surveys and reference publications from the fields of music, drama and puppet theater, ballet and movie arts, as well as reports from conferences and roundtables in the field of arts. The donation also includes annual collections "Art Readings" for the period 2005-2015 with annual reports from scientific conferences of the Institute. Undoubtedly, some of the most valuable editions in the donation are studies related to the historical development of the theater art in its various aspects: "Bulgarian musical theater from 1890 to 2005. Opera, ballet, operetta and musical"; "Bulgarian puppet play of modernity to the 90s of the 20th century"; "Bulgarian theater between the two world wars of the XXth century"; "The British drama 1945-1989"; "The musical theater. Projections in time"; "The musical parody in the late 20th and early 21st century", etc. Especially valuable are monographic studies on church music: "Introduction to Medieval musical systems" by Konstantin Floros; books by the musicologist Kristina Yapova "Churchianity and musical thinking", "Music of the Upper Hearts", "Sound and ethos. Variations on the theme of Boethius", etc. Several of the publications included in the donation are devoted to the life and activity of some eminent figures: the monograph "In the years. Rosemary Statelova -70 years" – researches of the famous musicologist in different areas of music; The collection of materials from the scientific conference dedicated to the artificial-theological and philological aspects of the legacy of Father Neophyte Rilski; Proceedings of the Conference "Dobri Hristov and the Bulgarian XXth century", dedicated to the 125th anniversary and 60 years since the death of the musical activist; the study "Cheers, maestro! Bohemian life of Ivan Penkov" by Professor Dr. Milena Georgieva dedicated to Ivan Penkov - one of the most prominent Bulgarian artists from the first half of the XXth century and more. The study "Arts, markets, audiences", which focuses on issues related to the dynamics in the creation, distribution and operation of the arts in contemporary culture is very interesting too. The books from the donation will be available to readers in the "Art" department of "Sava Dobroplodni" regional library. |
