Sliven representatives took part in an International conference in the town of Pecs /Hungary/

An International conference on topic: “Future of Europe. Library – a depositary of past, forming the future”    was held on 4 October 2007 in Pecs /Hungary/. The conference was included in the program “Pecs – European cultural capital, 2010”, sponsored by EU. The conference was focused on the topic for uniting the efforts for stimulating of the relation between schools and libraries and the active participation of the libraries in the educational process.

The conference was organized by the Town library of Pecs with the support of Pecs Municipality, Region Baranya and the Union of Hungarian librarians.

Guests-lecturers of the conference were Mrs. Clara Bakosh a chairwoman of the Union of Hungarian librarians, Andrea Bajich a president of NKE in Croatia and Mrs. Rositsa Petrova – a directress of the Regional library in Sliven.

Mrs. Rositsa Petrova read a report on topicLibraries – helping education.(Or why and how to be together in reading)”. In her report she presented the chances for supporting the process of education through various activities for work with children and teenagers in libraries. The experience of Sliven regional library in organizing different evens, stimulating reading in early childhood was especially outlined.

Mrs. Rositsa Petrova attended a working lunch with Dr. Marta Kunst – a vice-mayor of social activities in Pecs - during her visit in Pecs. New ideas for cooperation and common projects of the libraries of Sliven and Pecs have been discussed during the lunch for the period until 2010, which projects to be carried out in the framework of the programPecs European cultural capital”.
