“Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library present the book “Causeries with Rudar”

“Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library-Sliven organizes a premiere of Konstantin Mladenov’s book “Causeries with Rudar” in the last Friday of March. Professor Stefana Dimitrova, a daughter of Rudar, was a special guest of the event, which took place in Reading-room № 2 of “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library.

The eminent writer and literary critic, born in Sliven region, Petar Dimitrov-Rudar /1906 – 1994/ is an author of books for children, a critic and a theorist of literature for children, a publicist and a public speaker of international importance. He is the author of the first textbooks and readers in children’s literature. His great love for nature and the tourist movement are probably the reason, according to the critics, for his first steps in literature and for his worldly and creative longevity. Rudar is the author of more than twenty books most of which consist of stories for children and teenagers. He has a great contribution as he was an expert in Russian literature.

In the introduction to the book “Causeries with Rudar” Konstantin Mladenov outlines that he gather together his talks with Rudar from the Spring, Summer and the Autumn of 1983 in Rudar’s house on “Nezabravka ” street in Sofia. Although at his eighties, the writer “has always been in a perfect condition– he continued to travel in the country and to meet his readers and audience”, writes Mladenov. The book contains photos from Rudar’s private archive, biography, bibliography, an alphabetical index, and a postscript from Stefana Dimitrova “My father in my memories”.

The premiere of the book was within the framework of the initiative Friday literary reading.
