“Sava Dobroplodni” Regional library presented
the works of Sliven writers published in 2008
More than 40 books of writers from Sliven and Sliven region, published in 2008, were presented on the first for 2009 Friday readings in “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional library on January 30. For the eleventh time in a row, traditionally, writers, literary critics and readers met in the library, in order to share thoughts and impressions from the newly published books. The audience stood in silence one minute in memory of the poetess Evgenia Genova before the beginning of the meeting.
Ten books of poetry – love lyric poetry, social poetry and literary miscellanies, addressed to young and adult admirers of rhymes, published in the last year. More than 30 books of prose filled up the catalogue of books– fiction and specialized literature: historical survey of the region and medleys, travel notes, biographies, essays and philosophical texts. Among the writers were famous ones, and also other artists from different spheres of art, whose books impressed the audience with their sincerity and artistic daring. Many of them were presented and their books had their premiere in Sliven on this very spot- the Regional library. Amongst the books that were presented was also the book of the Right Reverent Joanikii, Metropolitan bishop of Sliven “Intellectual directions for penance and confession” /Sofia, Synodical publishing house/. Part of the published last year book of local writers have been published in Sliven publishing houses “Jajda”, “Obnova”, “Compass”, and also in famous Bulgarian publishing houses.
“Sava Dobroplodni” Regional library published four books last year: a medley of the works-winners in the National literary competition of children-participants in the Хth National Children’s Book Festival, a medley of the reports of the Round table on a topic «Books for children of XXI century and their readers» from the last year’s edition of the festival, bilingual edition of the library /in Bulgarian and in English / and a jubilee newspaper «Ten years National Children’s Book Festival».
The production of Sliven writers was presented emotionally and with a wink for those who write and read by Tenko Tenev – a poet, a chairman of Yambol Writer’s Association and the literary critic Dimitar Bechev– a director of Yambol regional library “Georgi Rakovski ”. The event was included in the culture calendar of Sliven Municipality.
