THE FOUNDER OF SUGGESTOLOGY MET READERS IN „SAVA DOBROPLODNI” REGIONAL LIBRARY

A meeting with Professor Dr. Georgi Lozanov was held on January 22, 2008 in Sava Dobroplodni Regional library. He is the fоunder of the science /named suggestology - suggestive science/ teaching how by suggestion to reveal the untapped resources of human personality and mind.

Professor Dr. Georgi Lozanov was born on July 22, 1926 in Sofia. He is a famous psychiatrist, psychotherapist and a pedagogue. In the 70 years of ХХ century he vastly contributed to the development of the intense teaching through his theory called Suggestopedy /it is based on the use of different breathing and music techniques /. The best sample of the use of his theory is in the field of foreign language teaching. By the program developed by him between 80 and 300 words can be learnt every day. After one month teaching the learner can speak a foreign language as an advanced learner. His theory was highly appreciated by UNESCO and by scientists from different countries. In some countries this theory is applied as a state initiative (i. e. Austria, Norway, England, Finland etc.). There are many centers for foreign language teaching, based on his theory opened in many countries. Except fastening the effectiveness of teaching, this suggestive method improves the health and the culture of human relations.

After the political changes in Bulgaria Professor Dr. Georgi Lozanov was invited by the local authorities of Voralberg, Austria together with his talented assistant Professor Dr. Evelina Gateva, a musician and a linguist, a head of an international centre for training teachers in his theory.

He manages today methodically hundreds of suggestopedic centers all over the world.

He lives between Wien and Sofia.

The meeting with Professor Lozanov started in 5.00 p. m. His methods for fast foreign language learning will be demonstrated.
