Friday literature readings
The 10th anniversary of the establishment of the International foundation “Balkanica” was celebrated during the last for 2007 Friday literary readings in “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional library. Guest of the event were the president of the foundation – Mr. Nicolay Stoyanov /a writer and owner of “Biblioteka 48” publishing house/ and Igor Chipev – a member of the international jury of the foundation. The International foundation “Balkanica” was established by famous publishing houses in seven Balkan countries and its main aim is to award annually a literary prize of Balkan people /named by journalists „The Balkan Nobel Prize”/ and it became a competent centre for mutual acquaintance and propagandizing of the serious literary achievements of the Balkan countries. Important for the competence of “Balkanica” are several serious projects, initiated by the foundation, as the establishment of “A Workshop for translators from and in Balkan languages”, Balkan culture centre in Sofia, also its participation in numerous important forums in France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and many initiatives of UNESCO and EU. Regarding the great contribution of the Bulgarian co-founders, the Managing committee of „Balkanica” decided that its head-office will be in Sofia, Bulgaria. The 10th session of ‘Balcanika’ was held in Sofia /in November, 2007/ and also the celebrations of its anniversary, which were under the aegis of the President if Republic of Bulgaria Mr. George Parvanov. Winners of the literary prize „Balkanica”: David Albahari, Serbia Anton Donchev, Bulgaria Nikos Bakolas, Greece Vasile Andru, Romania Venko Andonovsky, Macedonia Fatos Congoli, Albania Aifer Tunch, TurkeyDimitar Shumnaliev, Bulgaria Maro Duca, Greece Tahim Udjel, Turkey Foundation „Balkanica” is a winner of the National prize “Hristo G. Danov”- for its contribution to the popularizing the Bulgarian literature and its president Nicolay Stoyanov is a winner of the prestigious award “Paris – Europe” for his contribution to the culture of United Europe.
