"WINE - INSPIRATION OR INTOXICATION" - EXHIBITION IN "SAVA DOBROPLODNI" REGIONAL LIBRARY - SLIVEN The first day of February begins a cycle of three consecutive days called St.Trifon‘s days - 1, 2 and the 3rd of February. On February the 1st we honor the memory of martyr Trifon, honoured as a saint and healer, guardian of vineyards and wine. In the folk calendar, the celebration is called Trifon Zarezan or St. Trifon‘s day and is associated with the custom of honoring vineyards. These days are associated with vineyards, wine, fructification and prosperity. They are also called magic, since the prayers of everyone who has prayed for a good year, filled with luck and love, will be heard. To these festive days is also devoted the art-documentary exhibition "Wine - Inspiration or Intoxication", exhibited in the central foyer of Sava Dobroplodni Regional Library in Sliven. The exhibition includes books, articles, copies of documents devoted to the history of wine from ancient times to the present day as well as interesting materials about the wine production in Sliven region. An interesting part of the exhibition are paintings and reproductions of paintings by world famous and Bulgarian artists on the topic /Caravaggio, Giotto, Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh, Diego Velázquez, Y. Valkenberg, Iv.Markvichka, Chudomir, etc. Every visitor will also receive a scroll with a poem by a Bulgarian poet devoted to wine as an inspiration. The exhibition can be visited until 14th of February 2019. |
