At
5: 00 pm as part of the Friday literary reading, the novel by Vladimir Zarev
"Eagle Bridge" was presented the library.
The novel reflects the events of 2013, related to the protests on the Eagle
Bridge. The fury of protesters is in the center of the narrative and also
the hope that the political class can be swept, that the same will happen
with monopolies, and oligarchs... On this background Vladimir Zarev tells
the story of an astonishing and impossible love. The main characters, Pavel
and Yulia are among the leaders of the protesters. Each has his own past,
his fears, sins and dreams. Gradually, they go a way towards each other.
Their love is frantic and gentle and injuring. The meeting was opened with an excerpt from the novel, reflecting most vividly the protests, read by the actor Ivaylo Abadzhimarinov. A brief literary information about Vladimir Zarev qas presented too, complemented by the manager of "Hermes" publishing house -Stoyo Vartolomeev.
There were many questions about the novel which the fans asked the writer.
According to Zarev novel is not political, but rather a romantic one. He
told how he originated the idea for his book - as he witnessed the protests
personally, he knew most of the protesters and the ideas that united them so
he set the goal to present them fairly in the novel. But the events
described are only the background of a beautiful and romantic love story.
Some
of the questions were related to the processes in the recent history of
Bulgaria that have found a place in writer’s books: the murky time of
transition; the mechanisms by which the work of several generations of
Bulgarians was robbed, humiliated and undone; the lack of justice; the greed
of the political class and the ever-increasing gap between it and ordinary
Bulgarians, etc. The writer answered to questions also about the epic family
saga "Genesis", "Exodus" and "Law" as well as the novels "Year 1850" and
"Priest Bogomil and the Perfection of Fear".
At the end of the almost two hours lasting meeting Vladimir Zarev signed
autographs for his many fans. |
