150 librarians will be trained under the "Global Library" program

With training modules on "Organization and management of the activities in the public library" and "Information and Communication Technologies" started the trainings in "Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library - a training center for librarians from Sliven region. From March until the end of the calendar year in the center will be organized 11 training courses in all modules of the training program and will be included more than 150 librarians and secretaries of community centers from the region. In this year's training will be included librarians from libraries that are not targeted by the program as the ultimate goal is to increase the capacity of librarians and their professional qualification and modernization of the activities of more libraries in the area.

More than 4,000 librarians and staff from public libraries across the country will be included in the training courses organized under the "Global Libraries Bulgaria" program from March 20 until the end of the year. The training program includes training courses in "Information and communication technologies", "Organization and management of activities in the public library", "Services in the Modern Library", "Communicating and working with customers and communities", "Advocacy, fundraising and project development ". Trainings are held at the regional training centers in five directions by trainers - experts in their subject area and experienced in adults’ education, in methodology and with teaching materials specifically written for the purpose of the program.

Program "Global Libraries - Bulgaria" is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture and the UNDP. It brings together professionals, institutions and organizations who believe that public libraries improve the quality of life by providing free access to information and exchanging ideas. 960 libraries are equipped by the program, offering computer and free internet access for citizens in 895 cities across the country. The program is funded by a grant from "Bill and Melinda Gates” Foundation and investments by local authorities and the state budget.
