A QUIZ DEDICATED TO THE 135th ANNIVERSARY OF THE APRIL UPRISING WAS HELD AT “SAVA DOBROPLODNI” REGIONAL LIBRARY

 

The April Uprising of 1876 was the greatest manifestation of Bulgarian national liberation movement in the centuries-old historical chronicle of Bulgarian nation. It was the result of the entire revival process in the Bulgarian society started in the second half of the XVIIIth century. With the ideas of Vasil Levski and Rakovski, Filip Totyu, Panayot Hitov and Hadzhi Dimitar, the eminent figures from 1876 prepared Bulgarian people to fight, to develop a powerful national movement, which became an epic. The events of 1876 have their inner place in the heart of every Bulgarian. Returning to them is a way to remind each new generation the meaning of heroism and sacrifice of thousands ordinary Bulgarians for freedom of the fatherland. "Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library devoted a quiz named "135 years April Uprising" to the events of 1876. Accents in it were the issues related to the April Uprising in the Second Sliven revolutionary region. The quiz was held from the 7th of June to the 10th of June 2011 and was included in the program of Sliven Municipality to celebrate the anniversary of the April Uprising. It was attended by more than 250 students from IInd elementary school "Hristo Botev", Vth secondary school "Peyo K. Yavorov", XIIth secondary school "Elisaveta Bagryana" and the High School of Economics "Prof. D. Tabakov". The organizers of the quiz had prepared awards for the participants who gave the most correct answers to the questions.
