Computer labs equipped by the "Global Libraries - Bulgaria" program were officially opened in the target libraries in the village of Ticha, Municipality Kotel and the village of Novachevo, Sliven municipality

 

The official opening ceremonies for the opening of computer labs in the libraries at "Prosveta" community centre in Ticha village and "Yuri Gagarin" community centre in Novachevo village turned into real community holidays.

 The computer lab was opened on October 14th in Ticha village. In the large hall of the library, in front of more than 200 members of the community center, pupils from the local school and guests of the event the secretary of the community centre Yovka Madjarova presented the program "Global Libraries - Bulgaria". Rosica Petrova-Vasileva - a regional coordinator for Sliven region welcomed the public with a speech. In her speech she focused on the benefits for the local community from the inclusion of the library at "Prosvets" community centre in the project and she wished the library through new services that will provide to become an attractive center for all residents of the village. After the speeches the most talented students from local schools sang on the stage, danced and read essays about the role of computers in today's world. At the end of the celebration the lab was officially opened by Rosica Petrova-Vasileva and Atanas Atanasov - the vice mayor of the municipality of the town of Kotel. A presentation dedicated to the history and the present of the community center and to the main activities and achievements of the library was presented to the guests and visitors.

The official opening ceremony of the computer lab in "Yuri Gagarin" community centre in Novachevo village was held on October 15th. The celebration was opened by the secretary of the library Selvet Seidosmanova. Then a speech to the members of the community center, municipal councilors, mayors, candidates, students and villagers was read by Rosica Petrova-Vasileva – a regional coordinator of the program "Global Libraries-Bulgaria" Sliven region. In her speech she presented the main objectives of the program, thanked for the support of the local government and the people who helped the library to fulfill the conditions for inclusion in the library project and highlighted the benefits for the population from participating in it. A welcoming speech to the public was also read by Radost Kostova – a vice mayor of Sliven. She wished the library to multiply its users by the help of the new services which will be offered in the computer lab. The celebration continued with the performances of the troupe for modern dances at the community centre. The official opening has traditionally been accompanied by cutting the tricolor band – by the vice mayor of Sliven Radost Kostova and Rosica Petrova-Vasileva. Only a few minutes after the opening the lab was filled with children who patiently waited their turn to sit in front of the computers and to surf the Internet.
