Books from Sliven writers, published 2006, were presented in “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library
“Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library hosted the presentation of the books of Sliven writers, published in the last year, which became a tradition, on January 12, 2007.The event was organized in co-operation with the Cultural Figures’ Club. The books of Sliven writers were presented by Tenko Tenev – a poet, a chair-man of the Yambol Writers’ Association, and the literary critic Dimitar Bechev – a director of the Regional Library - Yambol. There were more than 30 new books – poetry and prose, written by writers from Sliven and Sliven region. There were more than 10 books, written in prose – fiction, historical-ethnographic studies, travel notes, and philosophical prose. Most of the books, which were written by local writers, were published last year by Sliven and Yambol publishing houses; and some of them were published in Sofia. Dimitar Bechev named his short review of the books of Sliven writers “Ambitions on a cross-road”, and the variety of topics in the content explained his motive. Asen Makaschiev /junior/ entitled his book of memoirs “My heritage” – he gave an interesting and picturesque outline of the peoples’ life in Sliven during the first year after the liberation of Bulgaria from Turkish yoke. The novel of Georgi Stoyanov “Bozguna” is and attempt for showing the dramatic events from Bulgarian history, related to the forcible relocation of Bulgarian from Edirne Thracia. Marin Paskalev described his book “Barge” as “a novel for troubled times”. The author has set himself the ungrateful task to describe artistically one special moment from the Bulgarian history – the summer of 1944, when complicated political conflicts had come to a head in Bulgaria and the opposition to the official authorities took a dramatical turn. Big and ambitious is the writer’s project of Mincho Delev to gather his aesthetic and moral experience thorough the years into the impressive three volumes “Folklore – the unfinished book of the civilization”. In his debut medley “A Mist in the living place” Carlos Contrera observes in a keen curiosity and with a mocker-ironical view, typical for young people, many coloured world around us, as he goes bravely into the social canker life. Kosta Djelebov is the author of self published short novel “The Night Goes Away” – by the incredible at first glance story of Yavorov and Lora he reminds us about the ups and downs of life and the theatre of life, in which many of us stay just as ungifted actors. In brief, the book of Sonja Kelevedjieva “Theatre, my love!” could be defined as the story of a students’ amateur theatre through the years – a story of a love, devoted itself to the Bulgarian dramaturgical heritage. The short medley of novelettes, written by Stela Hileva “Orange Dreams” focused the dramatical world of young Bulgarian women, who went by necessity to live in exile – twelve novelettes, spontaneously peer into their intimate world. The book of Christo Simeonov “Dragodanovo village –a highway of UFO” is a reading, directed to the fans of stories about the unknown universe around us and the mysteries of the paranormal phenomena. After the notes of the first Bulgarian ranger and the Cambodia diary of Yanko Yankov, now the author offers to his readers “African diary” – impressions from his second mission in Angola /1995-1996/. The notes in the diary have been written in a very interesting manner and they describe the reality of an unknown for many of us world, full of poverty, misery, non-stop armed conflicts and unexplainable hate among people, who live there. “The Sunny Devil ” is the title of the book of Vencislav Gandev – a book, a kind of a digest – a fresh allegory of the double-faced human world, in which you have to doubt everything, in order to stay in harmony with your own world. After the full research work “The Volleyball in Sliven”, Vazkresii Kirov continued his efforts – this time to revive the sport life and the road of life of the eminent Bulgarian volleyball player, born in Sliven Panayot Pondalov /Rumbata/. It is a joyful fact, the next to eminent writers, in section “Poetry” there are already young Sliven poets. In the beginning of his review, Yambol poet Tenko Tenev distinguished two collections of poetry of Kamen Vasevski from the last year “You allowed me to love you” and “A Mortal Cloud and a High Rainbow” – the next “entry” of Vasevski in the spiritual life of Sliven with a sincere devotion to art and incredible continuity. “The Sea loves people alive” is the title of the book of poetry of Sava Peev – 38 suffered, confessions, which you have no way not to trust. It is sad, that we must speak about Emil Zhechkov in past time. His collection of poems “Presence” is the last confession of Dr. Zhechkov, it contains much “silver” sorrow, airily and pure sense of nature and, of course, all that caught by his strong senses for life. It was published by the help of the compiler the poet Sava Peev. The writer Maria Kondakova offers 87 new poems - “A Table for close friends”. There is finesse, depth and pain in those poems, dedicated to love and Earth, to relatives and to the home-country, to sun and to the world. The name of Ivan Pavlov is related to the poem “Sofronii”. The edition of the poem, published in 2006 was dedicated to the 30-anniversary of the poet’s death and 50-anniversary from the day, when the poem was written. The writer is a grand-son of priest Stojko Vladislavov. With great respect Pavlov describes his grand-father – the bishop Sofronii Vrachanski. “Sunny love” is the book of poetry of Ivanka Kalaidjieva, dedicated to her first grand-daughter Alexandra. The poetess shares with great love her first excitements, pain, joy and expectations, related to children. Krasimir Panev is the author of “The Road to Europe”. There are many things from many-coloured life in that book. The book of poetry of Siika Arnaudova “Revelation” includes fifty-six poems. They are notable for their warmth and the confession of a woman, still in love with the whiteness and faith in the magic poetry -life. Nina Petkova was presented with her book “Who is strongest”- poems, songs and short screen-plays for children, truly exciting, written with much love and knowledge of children’s world. “The Life” – that is the way how Pepa Tarakchieva entitled her last book така озаглави. Her works include three cycles, which became part of our lives. The poems of Anna Vlahova “You will love me until I am alive” bring hope, a new sincere view of world and people. Atanas Tsonkov published in 2006 the third and fourth part of his medley “Folklore Songs from Jeruna”. In the new editions Tsonkov gathered love, songs, songs related to the family and every day life and songs, related to work in the region, where he was born. A jubilee medley, concerning the history of the Cultural Figures’ Club-Sliven and an almanac “Words”, dedicated to the 80-anniversary of the Club were published in the last year. They include works of writers, who have been members of the Club since it has been established until nowadays. “Jajda” publishing house published for next time in a row a literary medley, including works of Sliven writers and writers from Sliven region, members of the Association of the independent Bulgarian writers. The medley is published each three years, and the last one contains poetry and prose of 24 writers. “Sava Dobroplodni” published five books in 2006. One of them is the bio-bibliographical index about Petar Dimitrov-Rudar. Most of the other editions of the library last year have been related to the VIIIth National Children’s Book Festival: the medley, including the works, winners in the literary competition and the competition for a drawing on topic “An adventure in the world of fairy secrets and magic”; the medley with material of the round table, dedicated to the modern novel for children; the medley, including the works, winners in the literary competition - “ Europe in a fairytale” in Bulgarian and English, an edition in co-operation on the trans-national project LITTLE, in which Sliven library presented Bulgaria. The presentation of the books of Sliven writers this year gathered together writers and poets, readers from different ages and different occupations, admirers and literary critics of the written speech. Guest of the meeting was the writer and the publisher Nikolai Stoyanov. The event, with its many-faced presence, included in the Cultural program of events of Sliven municipality, turned into the first for the new year feast of spirit for Sliven public.
