Days of Storytelling in "Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library

Today, March 11, 2013, Regional Library "Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library - Sliven for the fourteenth consecutive year launched the program "In the magical world of fairy tales". During the week students from various schools in Sliven met with their favorite characters from the fairy tales of the great Bulgarian storyteller Ran Bosilek. On the stage of a small magic theater children saw their favorite characters from "Patilantsi’s kingdom" and "Kose Bose". Children sincerely enjoyed the adventures of Granny Tsotsolana and the noisy band of cheerful Patilancho, they experienced the worries of little bird Kose - Bose and enjoyed the punishment of the bad fox.

Performances were held on a preliminary schedule.

Ran Bosilek, whose real name is Gencho Negentsov was born in 1886 in Gabrovo. As a inquisitive and clever boy he most of all loved to listen to the stories of his mother who first revealed to him their charm and wisdom. He graduated the famous secondary school in his hometown. A few years later he worked as a teacher. He felt a strong affection to the younger students, he admired their rich imagination. Maybe this is the reason why he did not start working as a lawyer, although he graduated in law from Sofia University and dedicated himself totally to the writing career by writing for children only.

Ran Bosilek createed such valuable works in our poetry as "Native Speech", "Native shelter", "Tell me", etc., but is most of all a writer storyteller. He retold many folk tales - Bulgarian and foreign, as: "Grandpa and turnip", "Klan Nedoklan", "Plums for garbage", "Affliction", "The Wonderful box" and many others. They were published in the collections: "Kose Bose", "Unknown Hero", "Unborn girl" etc. But perhaps the most popular are his merry stories in rhymed prose, gathered in the collections "Patilantsi’s kingdom" and "Patilantsi’s school". Generations of Bulgarians were raised with the joyful adventures of Patilancho and his friends.

Ran Bosilek translated six volumes of Brothers Grimm’s fairy tales.
