THE DIRECTOR OF SLIVEN REGIONAL LIBRARY ROSITSA PETROVA OPENED AN EXHIBITION OF THE ARTIST PETER STANIMIROV IN NOVI SAD /SERBIA/

The fifty-fifth anniversary edition of the International Festival "Zmajeve dečje igre" was held from 6 to 10 of June 2012 in Novi Sad / Serbia /.  Rositsa Petrova - Director of "Sava Dobroplodni" Regional Library-Sliven and the artist Peter Stanimirov took part in its program as special guests from Bulgaria. The visit was organized by invitation of Dusan Djurdjev - Director of The International centre for children's book publishing and the Festival "Zmajeve dečje igre" / Novi Sad, Serbia /.

In her speech at the opening of the exhibition at the Museum "Vojvodina" Rosica Petrova said:

"I am honored to attend the opening of the exhibition of illustrations of one of the most famous Bulgarian contemporary illustrators - Peter Stanimirov.

Just about 20 days ago this exhibition was exposed in Sliven, during the days of the Fourteenth National Children's Book Festival and I am glad that now it will be seen by the Serbian public.

… A small part of the illustrations of children's books by Peter Stanimirov that reveal his specific style and creative imagery and explain the interest of children to books illustrated by him are presented in this exhibition. The exhibition includes illustrations from his original journals in which he is the author of the text. Peter Stanimirov is defined as one of the founders of the modern Bulgarian comics so the exhibition will show several illustrations of his most famous comics.

What is important to say more about the artist Peter Stanimirov - except an illustrator of the books of dozens of the most popular Bulgarian children's writers he is also the author of the best contemporary Bulgarian comics listed in the included in the catalog biographical notes, he is the creator of the literary genre of books - games and in the last 10 years he is successfully working on the creation of popular computer games. He illustrated the books of famous Bulgarian and foreign fiction writers; he is one of the best illustrators of the books of Stephen King.

The best thing is that he accepts the illustrating of children's books as a special cause and he continues to surprise young readers with expressive illustrations with imaginative ornamentation and exciting compositions. I hope that this exhibition will present Peter Stanimirov to Serbian publishers and he will be able to illustrate books written by Serbian writers too "…

Following the example of their partners from Sliven, the organizers of the exhibition of the festival in Novi Sad also issued a catalog which attracted the interest of many Serbian publishers and writers.

The exhibition was widely covered by the Serbian media / Serbian national TV, regional TV "Dunav" - Vojvodina, Serbian National Radio, International Cultural Centre "Ljubin" - ​​Belgrade, etc. / as a positive step towards bringing together Serbian and Bulgarian literature and culture.
