“Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library - has a new donation by the National endowment fund “13 Centuries of Bulgaria” The National endowment fund “13 Centuries of Bulgaria” endowed twenty new books and magazines, amounted to 300 levs, to “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library-Sliven. The editions concern the spheres of history, law, political sciences, religion and art sciences and they were published by the means of the Fund in the last several years. One of the most precious books of the endowment is “The Treasures of the World”, written by Petar Konstantinov. World famous centers and world art storehouses with information about them and more than 500 coloured and black and white illustrations are presented in that book. This issue continues the series “The Treasures of Bulgaria” and “The Treasures of Europe”, which the library keeps. “A Chronicle of the Bulgari family from the island of Corfu” is another book, which attracts readers’ interest. It was edited by Christo Matanov. Texts and facsimiles of documents trace the family’s history, there is also a CD enclosed with the book. The original chronicle is kept in the Centre for Slavic-Byzantine researches “Professor Ivan Duichev” and it is an exquisite bibliographical rarity. It was bought by the late professor Duichev from a second-hand bookshop in Rome. There are two more interesting books from the series “The Archives speak”: “Bulgarians from the Western suburbs – 1878-1975” and “Tsar Boris III in the British diplomatic correspondence 1919-1934”. The books are from the series “University Library”, published by “St. Kliment Ohridski” Sofia University’s publishing house. Library’s readers will have the chance also to read the research work of Maxim Karadjov “In the land of origin. Historical travel notes of Tian Shan and Altai”. The author presents information about the relation between ancient Bulgarian and the Chinese civilization, after he met archeologists and spent time in villages, ruled by shamans. “The Art between tradition and provocation” is another interesting book from the endowment. Author of the critical fragments from the 90-ies, as he defined his book himself, is Svilen Stefanov – he is an art critic, who is well-known by Sliven’s citizens, who love literature and reading. Two of the books from the endowment present Bulgarian painters – “Our daily bread” about Atanas Kachamakov and Atanas Neikov – Najo. The books consist of painters’ pictures, insights and confessions. Professor Dimitar Avramov presents in an essay his own point of view, concerning art and eminent Bulgarian painters XIX and XX centuries. The book is published in English. Theatrical sphere and ancient drama are presented in another interesting catalogue – bilingual edition in Greek and English. Diko Fuchedjiev’s novel “Nowhere with me” is also included in the endowment. Michelle Foucault’s book “Control and punishment” is another book, which will be interesting not only for lawyers. There are also several periodicals, which are much worthy: “Contemporary”, “Torch”, the specialized edition for theatre “HOMO LUDENS”, “ORIENTALIA” – a magazine about the East countries, published by the New Bulgarian University. The book contains research works, concerning linguistics, literature, architecture and religion of Eastern countries. Readers may find all these books in the library’s reading-rooms. |
