SLIVEN REPRESENTATIVES TOOK PART IN THE INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL IN NOVI SAD, SERBIA

     The 50 jubilee edition of the International festival “Zmajevi deche igre” – the oldest festival in Europe, dedicated to literature and arts for children was held from 4 to 10 June 2007 in Novi Sad /Serbia/. Special guest from Bulgaria, who took part in the festivals program were Rositsa Petrova directress of Sliven regional library and Igor Chipev director of department Books and library mattersat the Ministry of culture. The visit was organized at the invitation of Mr. Dushan Djurdjev director of the International centre for literature for childrenand the FestivalZmeevi deche igre” /Novi Sad, Serbia/ and it was related to the presentation of the newly published at the eve of the IX National Children’s Book Festival /Sliven, May 8-11, 2007/ and promoted during the days of its program bilingual anthology Fallen pearls " – Favourite poems for children of favourite children’s poetesses”.

 The anthologyFallen pearlshas been published by the idea of Sliven regional library and by the financial support of the Ministry of culture. The edition was dedicated to the 50-anniversary of the festival in Novi Sad which is a partner of Sliven library for several years already. The best and most favourite Bulgarian poems for children, written by several generations Bulgarian poetesses were gathered together in that anthology. There poems written by classics of Bulgarian literature and by contemporary writers, who actively get into that delicate field of literature. Although it contains not many pages, it reveals the values, eternity and continuity in Bulgarian poetry for children. The premiere of the anthology was organized on June 6, 2007 in the big hall of the Town library in Novi Sad. It was presented by Rositsa Petrova - compiler, Igor Chipev consultant and the translator of the texts in Serbian the poet Mila Vasov /Nish, Serbia/ in the presence of more than forty famous Serbian writers and publishers. Special greetings for the efforts of the compiler of the edition and all the people who helped her in the realization of the anthology and in supporting the process of getting know the Serbian and Bulgarian literature for children were read in front the audience by the most famous at present Serbian writer for children Gradimir Stoikovich. The presentation of the anthology was announced in Serbian mass media /Serbian national television, Regional televisionDanube” - Voivodina, Serbian national radio, International cultural centre Lyubin” - Beograd/ as a positive step for drawing closer Bulgarian and Serbian literatures. Ideas for the realization of translations of Bulgarian and Serbian writersworks by the help of the organizers of the festivals in Sliven and in Novi Sad and of the Ministries of culture of the both countries were discussed on that meeting.

On the following day Rositsa Petrova and Igor Chipev visited also the National library Matitsa Srebska”, where they deposited copies from the anthology in order to be distributed in the big Serbian libraries.
