 A VALUABLE DONATION OF BOOKS FOR “SAVA DOBROPLODNI” REGIONAL LIBRARY

 

More than 340 valuable issues in Bulgarian, French and Latin languages were received in the book-funds of the biggest library of the town of Sliven. A donation was made by our fellow-citizen and famous translator Krasimir Kavaldzhiev.

K. Kavaldzhiev was born in Sliven in 1969. He graduated the Language High School in Sliven and French Philology and Culturology at the “St. Kliment Ohridski” Sofia University. He has worked in “International Culture Cooperation” department of the Ministry of Culture /1995-2000/. He has lived and worked in Paris /France/ since the year 2000. He has specialized in “Culture Management” and “Comparative Literature” at Social Science School in Paris, where he is defended a doctorate. He works as a translator.

He has translated in French works of Svetoslav Minkov, Konstantin Konstantinov, Yordan Radichkov, Anjel Vagenstain, Nikolay Stoyanov, Georgi Grozdev. He has  translated from french in bulgarian texts of Jacques Lacan, Albert Camus, Tzvetan Todorov, Jacques Derrida, as well as the novels of the frenchlingual writers Georges Rodenbach, Jean-Philippe Toussaint, Andre-Marcel Adamek, Mayans, Francois Emmanuel and etc.

He got many awards about his brilliant translations, between which is the award for translation from the French community of Belgium for popularizing the Belgium literature in Bulgaria about the books of Philippe Blasband – “Ash and smoke” and “The bathroom” of Jean-Philippe Toussaint.

The donation for the library includes valuable issues, some of which are bibliographical value, like the novel “Fortunio” of Theophile Gautier, published in Paris in 1879, the unique issue since 1881 “The memories of Gaius Iulius Caesar about the Gallic War” in Latin language, Andre Chenier’s “The Lyric Masterpieces” /Paris, 1907/, “Oracles” /1939/ - full text of the Nostradamus’ original manuscript in French. In this donation are included and issues in French of Voltaire, Diderot, Moliere, Victor Hugo, Gustave Flaubert, Marcel Proust, Lamartine, Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, Nathalie Sarot and others.

            A big part of books in Bulgarian language included in this donation are in the fields of culturology, history, philosophy, as well as the works of famous Bulgarian authors.

            Very soon the books will be at readers’ disposal in the library.
