„SAVA DOBROPLODNI” Regional Library was awarded a national prize
“A Benefactor of the year - 2006” in “Community center/Library” section
Prizes of the National competition “A Benefactor of the year - 2006” of “Benefactor of the year” foundation were awarded on January 6th, 2007 on an official ceremony in the Grand hall of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy – Sofia. The prize was founded three years ago and it is awarded in four sections: for a person, for a commercial organization, for a non-profit organization, for a community centre/a library and it includes a small statues and an honorary diploma. The prize was awarded for a public support for the first time this year.
„Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library was nominated by Mrs. Hristina Cholakova – a governor of Sliven region. “Benefactor of the year” foundation awarded the Sliven library for its summer work-shop for children – a nice and a good way for the children in Sliven to for spend their summer holidays, and also to provoke an interest in them in books and reading. For children were organized different entertaining games: reading, playing outside and indoor games, meetings with writers, drama performances, modeling with plasticine, every day of the two summer months July and August in 2006. Materials for the games were free for the participants. The entertaining games and classes were organized by volunteers – librarians.
The prize of „Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library was bestowed by Mr. Tosho Peikov – a president of “13 Centuries Bulgaria” foundation and a member of the jury. The solemn ceremony was attended by the deputy Kosta Tsonev, vice-minister of Health matters Dr. Atanas Dodov, the writer Tsoncho Rodev, the actress Violeta Gindeva and other eminent figures, who came to support Sliven nominees.
