The first sod of the new library’s building was turned

 

The first sod of the new library’s building was turned on the 1st of October 2007 - the holy Christian holiday The Protection of the Mother of God - in the yard of “Sava Dobroplodni” Regional Library. The first sod symbolically was turned on by the mayor of Sliven Mr. Yordan Lechkov, and architect Ani Nevrokopskaone of the author’s of the project of the new building put the first stone. Priest Ivan did the inauguration of the new building for health and good luck.

The official ceremony was attended by the deputies Krastanka Shakliyan and Ivan Slavov, Vice-governors Radostin Koychev and Fatme Mustafova, the Municipality’s secretary Petya Rumenova, representatives of the Regional inspectorate of the Ministry of education and science, heads of schools, councilors, social and political leaders, representatives of national and regional media.

Architect Metodi Totev /a preliminary design/ and architect Ani Nevrokopska are the authors of the project of the new building. The new building will be spread out on 1000 square meters on three floors there will be: Children’s department for lending books for home and a reading-room, Foreign languages centre with an Internet hall at it, a reading-room for disabled persons, a conference hall, Atelier for young talents and other departments for public services, which are necessary for a new modern library. The new building will have two depositories on two floors. That new building will be connected to the main old library’s building by a corridor, the entrance and the readers’ registration will be united for the two buildings. Sliven “Building” Company is the executor of the new building.

Library’s administration strongly believes in the future support of Sliven Municipality and Municipality’s Council for helping the rise up of the new building and its equipment according to the modern European and world standards in the field of library sciences.
