	1966
February 21-22	The directress of the library Kalina Koseva took part in a National meeting of the directors of the regional libraries on topic: “Place, tasks and problems of the regional libraries” which took place in “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” National Library – Sofia.
February	“Department of Regional Studies” was differentiated at “Reference-bibliographical and informational department”.
March	A public council for regional studies was established. Some of its members were Misho Todorov, Deian Parapulov and Stefan Sultanov etc.
April 17-24	The writers Lachezar Stanchev, Vania Philipova and Boris Krumov were guests of the library during the days of the Week of literature and arts for children.
May	“Reference” department of the library compiled “Dobri Chintulov” bibliography.
June 6-11	The directress of the library Kalina Koseva took part in a National seminar in Lovech, organized by the Committee of arts and culture.
July 1	10 years since the establishment of the library have been celebrated. The library was awarded a diploma for its effective methodical activity by the Executive committee of the Town National Council. In the library worked: Kalina Koseva – a directress; Ginka Boeva – a head of „Book funds organizing and cataloguing” department; Vala Neikova – a methodologist; Veselina Pantofchieva – a head of „Public access services” department; Yanka Koleva – a head of “Children’s department”; Ivanka Mihailova – a head of „A General reading-room”; Rumiana Vlaseva – a librarian in public access department for adults; Snejana Valcheva – a methodologist; Milen Kumanov – a senior librarian – a head of the reading-room for sciences. The library’s fund numbered more than 100 000 books and other issues. A fund of records, notes and graphical issues was differentiated. 52 000 readers and 542 000 visits were registered in the library and 1 215 000 books and periodical were taken out for 10 years.
August	Petar Dobrev was appointed to the post of a director of the library.
October	Discussion of the plans for enlargement of the library and of an executor of the building process started.

March	„A Union catalogue of periodicals in the Regional library and other large libraries in the region” started to be published.
April	A regional seminar on topic: “Free public access in the large libraries” was held.
April 18	The library was an organizer of the national opening of the Week of children’s books.
May	Bibliographical indexes „Georgi Sava Rakovski” and „Dr. Ivan Seliminski” were published– Compilers: Snejana Valcheva, Ivanka Mihailova.
May 9	A meeting with the writer Anton Donchev and a discussion of his book “Time to part” were organized in the library.
May 30– June 3	Two representatives of the Sliven library attended the meeting in Smolyan, concerning methodical activities of the regional libraries, which was organized by the Committee of arts and culture.
October 18–20	The director of the library Petar Dobrev took part in a National conference in Rousse on topic: “Acquisition of book funds of the Regional libraries”.
November	The methodical department worked up a Perspective plan for development of the libraries in Sliven region to 1970.
	1968
January	Arrangement of book funds by format was put into operation in the book depository. In reference to this process started maintenance of a Key card file of formats of Readers’ alphabetical catalogue.
February	“A classified catalogue of technical and medical periodicals, received in the Regional and larger libraries of factories and institutes in Sliven” was published.
May	The library was a co-organizer of an exhibition „Sliven – a town of haidouks, rebels and revolutionaries” exposed in the Club of the National Army.
June 13-14	The director of the library Petar Dobrev took part in a National conference in Gabrovo on topic: “Professionalism of librarians”.
July 20	The library was inquired for the “Reference book of libraries in Bulgaria”.
September	A plenary session of the Town council for arts and culture was held on topic: „State and perspectives in the development of the libraries in Sliven”. The main report was read by Petar Dobrev- a director of the Regional library.
September 16-20	The director of the library took part in the Third international meeting of specialists from the socialistic countries on the matters of building, furnishing and mechanization of the libraries held in Sofia.
October	Enlargement of the library started.
November	„Blazon of the haidouk movement” bibliographical index was published. A compiler: Ivanka Mihailova.

April	Children’s department was temporally closed because of lack of rooms
May	The symposium “Our experience. Librarian from Yambol, Sliven and Bourgas regions tell about their experience” was published. This was the first collaborative symposium of the Bourgas, Yambol and Sliven regional studies union.
June 10 - 12	The director of the library Petar Dobrev took part in a National meeting on topic: “Organizing and management of library work in the region” held in Veliko Tarnovo.
September	The regional libraries of Sliven, Yambol and Bourgas published the bibliographical index „Sixth revolutionary operational zone”.
November	The library in co-operation with the Commission of youth and sports at the Town National Council announced a quiz on topic: “Lenin in literature and arts”.
	1970
January 20	A Government Decree № 2 of Council of ministers, concerning approving of “Basic positions in organizing the Unified library system in Bulgarian republic” was published. The Sliven library became a main methodical centre in the region.
April	Series of bibliographies of writers, poets, composers and painters – guests of the children’s department during the days of the Week of children’s book were published.
April	Children’s department of the library was relocated in the building of “Hadji Dimitar” community centre.
September 29	The library in cooperation with the Club of culture figures organized a „Night of poetry”.
	1971
January-December	The enlargement of the library was at its end. Library’s furniture was made. The book fund was re-classified.
March	A symposium of methodical articles on topic: “Lovely 8^th of March!” was published. A compiler: Nadejda Lateva.
April	Presentation of interesting popular science books was organized in the children’s department of the library.

January	A reading-room for natural science and mathematics was differentiated. A new classified catalogue of this fund was made.
February 10	The enlargement of the library was inaugurated. The library was of the most modernly equipped in the country. Differentiated service of readers was put into operation. A reading-room for social political literature, a reading-room for technical literature, 2 rooms for free public access, Reference bibliographical and informational department and Regional studies department, Acquisition, books processing and cataloguing department, a Methodical department and a Direction function in the central building of the library.
March	A newsreel for the inauguration of the library was filmed and it was broadcasted some months.
April	The writers Nikolai Zidarov and Jordan Drumnikov were guests of the library during the days of the Week of books and arts for children.
April 14	A regional meeting of librarians from villages of the region on topic: “Agricultural complexes and library services for rural population” was held.
	1973
February	The library announced a competition for drawing, dedicated to the 100 years of Vasil Levski’s death.
April	Children’s department and “Regional studies” department organized a meeting with the writer Dencho Marchevski and a discussion of his book “The pen, your sharp sword”.
May	The bio-bibliographical index “Nikola Furnadjiev” was published. A compiler: Jordanka Lazarova.
July 18	A session of the National Town Council of Sliven was held and a program for development of culture was accepted. The program provided another building for the Regional library.
November	Stefan Georgiev was appointed to the post of a director of the library.
	1974
March	A symposium of methodical articles “Birds die flying” was published. A compiler: Nadejda Lateva.
August	A cooperation with the library of Ternopol /Ukraine/ started.
September	A building of a new children’s department in the yard of “Vasil Levski” elementary school started.
September	The bibliographical index “140 years a textile industry in Sliven” was published. Compilers: Ivanka Mihailova, Jordanka Ivanova and Rumiana Vlaseva.
October 22	The Regional council of arts and culture and the Regional library held a session of library work. The director of the library Stefan Georgiev read the main report about the development of the library work in the region.
December	An exhibition of photos showing the development of the libraries in the region in 1944-1974 was exposed in the library. The bibliographical index „Thirty victorious years” was published.

January-September	The new children’s department was built and furnished.
May	A bibliographical reference “135 years from the birth of the Bulgarian revolutionist and a voivode Hadji Dimitar” was published in the “New books” bulletin. A compiler: Ivanka Mihailova.
July	The bio-bibliographical index „Georgi Dajagarov” was published. Compilers: Ivanka Mihailova, Jordanka Lazarova.
September 20	A National meeting on the matters of building and furnishing of the Bulgarian libraries was held in the library.
October	The new children’s department was opened in the yard of “Vasil Levski” elementary school. It had a reading-room, a room for free public access and taking out books and a books depository. It had modern technical equipment.
