Sliven Eparchy Sliven Eparchy covers the Sliven, Burgas and Yambol regions and part of the Haskovo region. It is separated on seven ecclesiastic districts and there are seats of bishop’s vicarage. The districts are not consistent with the administrative country partition. Sliven, Burgas, Jambol, Topolovgrad, Karnobat, Kotel and Malko Tarnovo are the ecclesiastic districts. The Sliven eparchy has 430 inhabited places, 190 parishes, which are served from 90 parish priests, 287 old Orthodox Churches and about 50 new Churches and chapels built after 1989. There are five working monasteries in Sliven eparchy nowadays: two male – “Saint Georgi” in Pomorie, “Saint Spas Ascension” – Bakandjika /Yambol region/ and three virginal- “Saint Trinity” - Ustrem village /Topolovgrad region/, known as the Karakoliuvski monastery, “The Assumption” – Kabile village /Yambol region/, “The Assumption” – between “Meden Rudnik” district and Gorno Ezerovo /Burgas/. |
